A precious footage showing how photographs were retouched before Photoshop was even created.
I dropped my jaw when I see this. Duke Nukem Forever is making its come back, the demo looks sweeeeet! After 12 years, this title can finally be scratched from the list of most anticipated vaporware, and I can’t wait!
This is by far the creepiest iPhone accessory I’ve seen. I feel like cutting the cord after the phone has been charged.
October 1st marked the 10th year anniversary for the Folding@Home project. As an early donor I’ve been following it since the project started, but I have to confess that I am mostly inactive as a donor. In the past 10 years, I have only completed 599 WU (Work Unit), which is a miniscule amount of contribution when compared to most active donors. However, I’ve witnessed the progress of the project, from its infant stage (client with no optimization), all the way to the later supports for SSE instruction, SMP, ATi Stream, nVidia CUDA, 64-bit client, PS3 and now OpenCL. The team of Folding@Home did a wonderful job utilizing the new technologies and making their distributed computing network to perform more efficiently. Congratulations!
Funny ad, you don’t need to understand Japanese to get it.
The PlayBook looks quite good on paper, it comes with 7-inch 1024x600 multitouch display, front and rear cameras, Flash 10.1 support, mini USB port, HDMI-out, WiFi, Bluetooth, 0.4-inches thickness, and weighted just 400g. From these specs, this thing feels like the tablet that everyone is waiting for. I own an iPad myself, there are certain things it’s really good at, and there are other things the iPad just won’t let you do conveniently. I am looking forward to see the PlayBook in action and hopefully it’ll be released on-time.
Microsoft is set to unveil several new Windows Phone 7 handsets on October 21 worldwide. New Yorkers will get an early first-hand sneak peak during Microsoft’s open house event in NYC on October 11. Buyers in UK, France, Italy and Spain will have to wait a bit before purchasing the latest phone from retail shelves on October 21st.
Someone posted a video about the unreleased HP Slate on YouTube. This thing looks nicely constructed and aesthetically attractive, I really like diamond shape back plate. However, this thing runs on Windows 7, which I am completely not excited about. Let’s face it, Windows 7 is not a good OS for slate devices. It doesn’t do touch very well, it takes substantial time to wake itself up from either sleep or hibernation, and…I haven’t seen anyone has came up a virtual keyboard solution as good as Apple (of course, there’s still room for Apple make improvement, maybe take the number keys above the QWERTY keyboard? Hint hint). Alright, my call is that, this thing is probably not the iPad killer we all have been waiting for.
