BlackBerry introduces new tablet - the PlayBook

The PlayBook looks quite good on paper, it comes with 7-inch 1024x600 multitouch display, front and rear cameras, Flash 10.1 support, mini USB port, HDMI-out, WiFi, Bluetooth, 0.4-inches thickness, and weighted just 400g. From these specs, this thing feels like the tablet that everyone is waiting for. I own an iPad myself, there are certain things it’s really good at, and there are other things the iPad just won’t let you do conveniently. I am looking forward to see the PlayBook in action and hopefully it’ll be released on-time.

Windows Phone 7 Preview

First HP Slate video on YouTube

Someone posted a video about the unreleased HP Slate on YouTube. This thing looks nicely constructed and aesthetically attractive, I really like diamond shape back plate. However, this thing runs on Windows 7, which I am completely not excited about. Let’s face it, Windows 7 is not a good OS for slate devices. It doesn’t do touch very well, it takes substantial time to wake itself up from either sleep or hibernation, and…I haven’t seen anyone has came up a virtual keyboard solution as good as Apple (of course, there’s still room for Apple make improvement, maybe take the number keys above the QWERTY keyboard? Hint hint). Alright, my call is that, this thing is probably not the iPad killer we all have been waiting for.

Intel sells $50 CPU upgrade card

Now you can spend $50 extra to pay for an “upgrade” that already exists on your purchased CPU. According to Intel, the upgrade card unlocks your Pentium G6951 to full 1MB L3 cache, plus enabling HyperThreading. Yes, you heard me right, $50 for 1MB of L3 cache + HyperThreading. Putting the sour taste aside, how could they justify that the cache and HyperThreading worth 50 dollars? You probably won’t feel any difference after doing the “upgrade”. Greedy…just greedy…
